A cooktop accessory device includes a detection coil configured to detect an inductive signal of an induction heating unit, and a signal analysis unit configured to determine a parameter of the inductive signal.

A cooktop accessory device, comprising:
- a detection coil configured to detect an inductive signal of an induction heating unit;
- and
- a signal analyzer configured to determine a parameter of the inductive signal,
- wherein the signal analyzer is configured to determine a further parameter of the inductive signal, and
- the further parameter comprises an activation sequence of the inductive signal.
