Methods and apparatus for multi-spatial guided image reconstruction

A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:

• receiving positron emission tomography (PET) measurement data and anatomy measurement data from an image scanning system, wherein the PET measurement data is generated by a PET modality and the anatomy measurement data is generated by a second modality;
• generating an initial PET image based on the PET measurement data;
• generating at least a first anatomy image and a second anatomy image based on the anatomy measurement data, wherein a first portion of the anatomy measurement data used for the first image has a first spatial resolution and a second portion of the anatomy measurement data used for the second anatomy image has a second spatial resolution;
• registering the first anatomy image and the second anatomy image to the initial PET image to generate a first registered anatomy image and a second registered anatomy image;
• reconstructing final PET image volume data by applying a multi-spatial image reconstruction process to the PET measurement data, the first registered anatomy image, and the second registered anatomy image;
• and
• storing the final PET image volume data in a data repository.

A system comprising:

• a data repository;
• and
• at least one processor communicatively coupled to the data repository and configured to:
• receive positron emission tomography (PET) measurement data and anatomy measurement data from an image scanning system, wherein the PET measurement data is generated by a PET modality and the anatomy measurement data is generated by a second modality;
• generate an initial PET image based on the PET measurement data;
• generate at least a first anatomy image and a second anatomy image based on the anatomy measurement data, wherein a first portion of the anatomy measurement data used for the first image has a first spatial resolution and a second portion of the anatomy measurement data used for the second anatomy image has a second spatial resolution;
• register the first anatomy image and the second anatomy image to the initial PET image to generate a first registered anatomy image and a second registered anatomy image;
• reconstruct final PET image volume data by applying a multi-spatial image reconstruction process to the PET measurement data, the first registered anatomy image, and the second registered anatomy image;
• and
• store the final PET image volume data in the data repository.
