Display device for detecting bonding defects

A display device comprising:

• a display panel including a display area in which a plurality of sub-pixels are disposed, and a non-display area positioned adjacent to the display area and in which a second pad portion is disposed;
• a printed circuit board including a first pad portion for outputting a plurality of voltages input to the display panel;
• a circuit film including a first end connected to the first pad portion of the printed circuit board and a second end connected to the second pad portion of the display panel;
• an analog-to-digital converter configured to receive an output voltage output from the first pad portion or the output voltage output from the second pad portion through a line in the circuit film electrically connecting the first pad portion with the second pad portion;
• a timing controller configured to receive the digital value output from the analog-to-digital converter and output a bending control signal for adjusting a bending characteristic of the display device based on the received digital value, the bending characteristic being one of a bending speed and a bending curvature of the display device in a direction perpendicular to a main surface of the display panel;
• and
• a host system configured to receive the bending control signal and adjust the bending characteristic of the display device according to the bending control signal,
• wherein a flexible characteristic of the display panel varies according to the output voltage input to the analog-to-digital converter,
• wherein an input voltage is transferred to the first pad portion and input to the second pad portion through the circuit film, and
• wherein the second pad portion receiving the input voltage transmits the output voltage to the analog-to-digital converter or wherein the second pad portion receives the input voltage input to the first pad portion through the circuit film and the first pad portion transmits the output voltage to the analog-to-digital converter.

A flexible display device comprising:

• a flexible display panel including a plurality of sub-pixels, and a second pad portion;
• a printed circuit board including a first pad portion for outputting a plurality of voltages to the flexible display panel;
• a circuit film including a first end connected to the first pad portion of the printed circuit board and a second end connected to the second pad portion of the flexible display panel;
• a controller configured to:
• receive an output voltage output from the first pad portion or an output voltage output from the second pad portion through a wire line in the circuit film electrically connecting the first pad portion with the second pad portion, and
• output a value corresponding to a bonding state of at least one internal component within the flexible display device;
• and
• a host system configured to receive the value and adjust a bending characteristic of the flexible display device according to the value, the bending characteristic being one of a bending speed and a bending curvature of the flexible display device in a direction perpendicular to a main surface of the display panel,
• wherein an input voltage is transferred to the first pad portion and input to the second pad portion through the circuit film, and
• wherein the second pad portion receiving the input voltage transmits the output voltage to an analog-to-digital converter or wherein the second pad portion receives the input voltage input to the first pad portion through the circuit film and the first pad portion transmits the output voltage to the analog-to-digital converter.
