Abstract
Systems and methods for updating advertisements embedded in a media asset scheduled for download at a future time. The media guidance application may receive a request from a user to download a media asset at a future time, where the media asset includes a plurality of embedded advertisements. The media guidance application may determine whether to update an embedded advertisement in the plurality of embedded advertisements. After determining to update the embedded advertisement, the media guidance application may replace the embedded advertisement with an updated advertisement in the media asset.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- receiving a request from a device to download a media asset;
- causing the device, at a first future time, to download the media asset, wherein at least one embedded advertisement is downloaded and embedded into the downloaded media asset;
- receiving a user interface input from the device, wherein the user interface input indicates a time-of-day at which a user of the device plans to view the media asset;
- determining, based on a user profile associated with the device, a time-of-day criteria corresponding to the time-of-day indicated by the user interface input;
- and
- causing a replacement of the at least one embedded advertisement in the downloaded media asset with an at least one updated embedded advertisement in the downloaded media asset, wherein the at least one updated embedded advertisement is retrieved from an online database based on the time-of-day criteria corresponding to the time-of-day indicated by the user interface input.
A system comprising:
- a memory;
- input/output circuitry configured to:
- receive a request from a device to download a media asset;
- and
- receive a user interface input from the device, wherein the user interface input indicates a time-of-day at which a user of the device plans to view the media asset;
- and
- control circuitry configured to:
- cause the device, at a first future time, to download the media asset, wherein at least one embedded advertisement is downloaded and embedded into the downloaded media asset;
- determine, based on a user profile associated with the device, a time-of-day criteria corresponding to the time-of-day indicated by the user interface input;
- and
- cause a replacement of the at least one embedded advertisement in the downloaded media asset with an at least one updated embedded advertisement in the downloaded media asset, wherein the at least one updated embedded advertisement is retrieved from an online database based on the time-of-day criteria corresponding to the time-of-day indicated by the user interface input.
A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions encoded thereon that, when executed by control circuitry, cause the control circuitry to:
- receive a request from a device to download a media asset;
- cause the device, at a first future time, to download the media asset, wherein at least one embedded advertisement is downloaded and embedded into the downloaded media asset;
- receive a user interface input from the device, wherein the user interface input indicates a time-of-day at which a user of the device plans to view the media asset;
- determine, based on a user profile associated with the device, a time-of-day criteria corresponding to the time-of-day indicated by the user interface input;
- and
- cause a replacement of the at least one embedded advertisement in the downloaded media asset with an at least one updated embedded advertisement in the downloaded media asset, wherein the at least one updated embedded advertisement is retrieved from an online database based on the time-of-day criteria corresponding to the time-of-day indicated by the user interface input.
