Precoding matrix indicator feedback method and communication apparatus

An apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor coupled to one or more memories storing programming instructions that for execution by the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:
• determining a first precoding matrix indicator (PMI), wherein the first PMI indicates a precoding matrix W, the precoding matrix W comprises R precoding vectors wi, i=0,1,2, . . . , R−1, the precoding vector wi is a column vector with a length of N1×N2×Ng, Ng represents a quantity of antenna panels of an access network devic, N1 represents a quantity of ports in a first dimension on an antenna panel of the antenna panels, N2 represents a quantity of ports in a second dimension on the antenna panel of the antenna panels, N1, N2, and Ng are all positive integers, and at least one of N1, N2, and Ng is greater than or equal to 2;
• and
• sending the first PMI.

An apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor coupled to one or more memories storing programming instructions for execution by the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:
• receiving a first precoding matrix indicator (PMI), wherein the first PMI indicates a precoding matrix W, the precoding matrix W comprises R precoding vectors wi, i=0,1,2, . . . , R−1, the precoding vector wi is a column vector with a length of N1×N2×Ng, Ng represents a quantity of antenna panels of an access network device, N1 represents a quantity of ports in a first dimension on one antenna panel, N2 represents a quantity of ports in a second dimension on the antenna panel, N1, N2, and Ng are all positive integers, and at least one of N1, N2, and Ng is greater than or equal to 2;
• and
• performing precoding based on the precoding matrix W indicated by the first PMI.
