Mobile computer with scan engine and NFC booster coil

A mobile barcode reader, comprising:

• a housing having a defined exit window;
• one or more imagers disposed within the housing and having a field-of-view extending out of the exit window,
• at least one processor disposed within the housing and operably coupled with the one or more imagers to receive images captured by the one or more imagers and to decode and perform analysis on the captured images, the analysis including one or more of decoding barcodes, optical character recognition, or object recognition;
• a first NFC antenna disposed in a first plane extending in a longitudinal direction of the housing;
• and
• a second NFC antenna disposed proximate an end portion and extending in a second plane that is transverse to the longitudinal of the housing, wherein the first NFC antenna and the second NFC antenna are electromagnetically coupled with each other as opposed to being physically or electrically coupled, and wherein each of the first NFC antenna and the second NFC antenna are configured to facilitate NFC reading for communication to the at least one processor of the mobile barcode reader.

A method of manufacturing a mobile barcode reader, the method comprising:

• forming a housing having a defined exit window;
• disposing a barcode reading module within the housing having a field-of-view extending out of the exit window and configured to read barcodes located within the field-of-view;
• disposing electronics including at least one processor within the housing, the electronics being in communication with the barcode reading module and configured to operate the mobile barcode reader;
• disposing a first NFC antenna in a first plane extending in a longitudinal direction of the housing;
• and
• disposing a second NFC antenna in a second plane extending in a direction transverse to the first plane, wherein the first NFC antenna and the second NFC antenna are electromagnetically coupled with each other as opposed to being physically or electrically coupled, and wherein each of the first NFC antenna and the second NFC antenna are configured to facilitate NFC reading for communication to the electronics of the mobile barcode reader.
