Abstract
A system and methods of remotely monitoring and controlling a pool controller for a pool or a spa via one or more remote computing devices is provided. In some embodiments, a remote user can be provided with information about the pool or the spa. The remote user is provided with an ability to remotely optimize a performance of the pool or the spa, including remotely adjusting a chemistry of the pool or the spa, remotely activating a heater of the pool or the spa, and/or remotely activating a pump of the pool or the spa.
Claims14
A method of remotely monitoring and controlling a pool or spa system, the method comprising:
- receiving, by a remote server, hours data from a controller associated with an internet of things (IoT)-enabled pump;
- wherein the pump is remote from the server, and
- the hours data includes a number of hours the pump has run since a filter in a filtration unit of the pool or spa system has been installed, separate from the pump;
- receiving, by the remote server, a predetermined runtime threshold associated with the pump;
- determining, by the remote server, whether the hours data exceeds the predetermined runtime threshold;
- and
- sending, by the remote server, an alert to a user device indicating that the pump is due for maintenance when it is determined that the hours data exceeds the predetermined runtime threshold.
A method of remotely monitoring and controlling a pool or spa system, the method comprising:
- receiving, by a remote server, hours data from a controller communicatively coupled to a gateway and the remote server, wherein the hours data is associated with a pool or spa component;
- wherein the hours data includes a number of hours a pump has run since a filter in a filtration unit of the pool or spa system has been installed, separate from the pump;
- receiving, by the remote server, a predetermined runtime threshold associated with the pool or spa component;
- determining, by the remote server, whether the hours data exceeds the predetermined runtime threshold;
- generating, by the remote server, an alert to a user device indicating that the pool or spa component is due for maintenance when it is determined that the hours data exceeds the predetermined runtime threshold;
- and
- sending, by the remote server, the alert to a user device, wherein the alert includes instructions to change the filter.
A system for remotely monitoring and controlling a pool or spa system, the system comprising:
- an internet of things (IoT)-enabled controller communicatively coupled to a gateway and a pool or spa component, wherein the IoT-enabled controller is designed to receive hours data associated with the pool or spa component;
- and
- a remote server communicatively coupled to the gateway and the IoT-enabled controller, wherein the remote server includes a processor and a memory unit, the processor configured to execute programmable instructions including:
- receiving hours data associated with the pool or spa component from the IoT-enabled controller, wherein the hours data includes a number of hours a pump has run since a recorded installation of a filter in a filtration unit of the pool or spa system, separate from the pump;
- receiving a configuration parameter associated with the pool or spa component from the IoT-enabled controller;
- receiving an operating parameter associated with the pool or spa component;
- determining whether the operating parameter configuration parameter;
- and
- initiating a response to lower the operating parameter.
