An aircraft modification system (AMS) for modifying an aircraft, the aircraft comprising an aircraft fuselage, an aircraft flight control system (FCS), aircraft flight control surfaces, and aircraft subsystems comprising one or more aircraft fuel systems, the aircraft being characterized by an aircraft center-of-gravity (CG), comprising:
- an aerial refueling system (ARS) and an ARS management subsystem that is operatively integrated with the ARS;
- an ARS carriage assembly coupled to the aircraft fuselage and configured to support the ARS when the ARS is installed within the ARS carriage assembly;
- a fuselage subsystem coupled to the aircraft fuselage and configured to support the ARS carriage assembly, the ARS, and the ARS management subsystem;
- a CG subsystem (AMS-CG subsystem) that is integrated with the aircraft, the aircraft subsystems, and the ARS management subsystem, and configured to coordinate, manage, or control movement of fuel between, to, or from fuel tanks to adjust the location of the aircraft CG;
- an automatic flight control system (AMS-AFCS) configured to operatively integrate with the aircraft FCS;
- and
- an aircraft dynamics management coordinator (ADMC) subsystem configured to operatively interconnect and operatively integrate the AMS-CG subsystem with the AMS-AFCS and to dynamically manage coordinated movement of, and the effects of purposeful movements of, the aircraft CG and of the aircraft flight control surfaces;
- the AMS-AFCS being configured to
- interface with the ADMC subsystem,
- manage and control the aircraft FCS, and
- manage and control movements and positions of the aircraft flight control surfaces via the aircraft FCS;
- and
- the ADMC subsystem being configured to computationally coordinate management of changes to aircraft CG and changes to the movements or positions of the aircraft flight control surfaces that affect or modify
- aircraft flight, aircraft maneuvering, and aircraft performance,
- in providing one or more receiver aircraft with refueling presentations, or
- in providing improved aircraft flight performance.
