Abstract
A catheter pump assembly is provided. The catheter pump assembly includes a proximal portion, a distal portion, a catheter body having a lumen extending along a longitudinal axis between the proximal and distal portions, an impeller disposed at the distal portion, and a stator disposed at a downstream location of the impeller to straighten flow downstream from the impeller. The stator is collapsible from a deployed configuration to a collapsed configuration.
Claims12
A catheter pump assembly, comprising:
- a proximal portion;
- a distal portion;
- a catheter body having a lumen extending along a longitudinal axis between the proximal and distal portions;
- an impeller disposed at the distal portion;
- and
- a stator disposed adjacent the impeller in the blood flow path to straighten flow, the stator being disposed distal of the impeller and functions as an inlet to the cannula.
3 more elements
A method of operating a catheter pump, comprising:
- insert a guidewire into a vascular system of a patient and to the patient's heart;
- insert a distal portion of the catheter pump into the vascular system using the guidewire, the catheter pump further including a proximal portion and a catheter body having a lumen extending along a longitudinal axis between the proximal and distal portions;
- turn an impeller disposed at the distal portion to generate a blood flow over a path from the patient's heart;
- and
- a stator disposed adjacent the impeller in the path of the blood flow to straighten the blood flow, the stator being disposed distal of the impeller and functions as an inlet to the cannula.
