Abstract
In some embodiments, an audio amplifier can include an input node for receiving a digital signal, and a controller coupled to the input node through a feed-forward path. The controller can be configured to generate a driving signal based on the digital signal. The audio amplifier can further include a driver configured to provide an amplified signal at an output node based on the driving signal, and a feedback circuit that couples the output node of the driver to the controller. The feedback circuit can be configured to provide a feedback signal for comparison with a reference signal representative of the digital signal to generate an error signal, such that the feedback circuit provides a form of the error signal to the controller for adjustment of the digital signal.
Claims15
An audio amplifier comprising:
- an input node for receiving a digital signal;
- a controller coupled to the input node through a feed-forward path, the controller configured to generate a driving signal based on the digital signal;
- a driver configured to provide an amplified signal at an output node based on the driving signal;
- and
- a feedback circuit that couples the output node of the driver to the controller, the feedback circuit configured to provide a feedback signal obtained from the amplified signal for comparison with a reference signal obtained from the digital signal to generate an error signal, such that the error signal is combined with the digital signal to adjust the driving signal.
A method for processing an audio signal, the method comprising:
- providing a digital signal to an input node of an amplifier;
- generating a driving signal based on the digital signal;
- generating an amplified signal at an output node based on the driving signal;
- generating an error signal based on a comparison of a feedback signal obtained from the amplified signal and a reference signal obtained from the digital signal;
- and
- adjusting the driving signal based on a combination of the error signal and the digital signal.
A wireless device comprising:
- an antenna for receiving a wireless signal;
- an audio amplifier configured to amplify a digital signal representative of the wireless signal, the audio amplifier including an input node for receiving the digital signal, a controller coupled to the input node through a feed-forward path, the controller configured to generate a driving signal based on the digital signal, and a driver configured to provide an amplified signal at an output node based on the driving signal, the audio amplifier further including a feedback circuit that couples the output node of the driver to the controller, the feedback circuit configured to provide a feedback signal obtained from the amplified signal for comparison with a reference signal obtained from the digital signal to generate an error signal, such that the error signal is combined with the digital signal to adjust the driving signal;
- and
- a speaker coupled to the output node of the audio amplifier and configured to generate sound waves based on the amplified signal from the audio amplifier.
