Modular bezel for facilitating player tracking functions at a gaming device

A system comprising:

• a player tracking server;
• a player tracking interface device comprising a shelf for holding a mobile device associated with a player,
• wherein the player tracking interface device is in communication with the player tracking server;
• a processor in communication with the player tracking interface device;
• and
• a computer-readable memory in communication with the processor, the computer-readable memory storing instructions that when executed by the processor direct the processor to perform:
• detecting placement of the mobile device on the shelf;
• identifying the player associated with the mobile device;
• providing player information associated with the player via a display of the mobile device while the mobile device is placed on the shelf;
• receiving player identification information;
• verifying an identity of the player;
• after verifying the identity of the player, not requiring the mobile device to remain placed on the shelf;
• determining the identity of the player must be verified again;
• prompting the player to place the mobile device on the shelf again;
• after detecting placement of the mobile device on the shelf again:
• receiving the player identification information;
• and
• verifying the identity of the player a second time.

A gaming device comprising:

• a housing;
• a gaming controller, connected to the housing, for providing game play;
• a player tracking interface device connected to the housing, the player tracking interface device comprising a shelf for holding a mobile device associated with a player;
• a processor connected to the housing;
• and
• a computer-readable memory in communication with the processor, the computer-readable memory storing instructions that when executed by the processor direct the processor to perform:
• detecting placement of the mobile device on the shelf;
• identifying the player associated with the mobile device;
• providing player information associated with the player via a display of the mobile device while the mobile device is placed on the shelf;
• receiving player identification information;
• verifying an identity of the player;
• after verifying the identity of the player, not requiring the mobile device to remain placed on the shelf;
• determining the identity of the player must be verified again;
• prompting the player to place the mobile device on the shelf again;
• after detecting placement of the mobile device on the shelf again:
• receiving the player identification information;
• and
• verifying the identity of the player a second time.

An apparatus comprising:

• a processor;
• a shelf;
• and
• a computer-readable memory in communication with the processor, the computer-readable memory storing instructions that when executed by the processor direct the processor to perform:
• detecting placement of a mobile device on the shelf;
• identifying a player associated with the mobile device;
• providing player information associated with the player via a display of the mobile device while the mobile device is placed on the shelf;
• receiving player identification information;
• verifying an identity of the player;
• after verifying the identity of the player, not requiring the mobile device to remain placed on the shelf;
• determining the identity of the player must be verified again;
• prompting the player to place the mobile device on the shelf again;
