Content playback and modifications in a 3D environment

A device comprising:

• a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium;
• and
• one or more processors coupled to the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, wherein the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprises program instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
• during execution of an application,
• presenting a first set of views comprising application content provided by the application within a three-dimensional (3D) environment, wherein the first set of views are provided from a first set of viewpoints in the 3D environment;
• recording program state information that corresponds to the execution of the application content at a plurality of points in time, the program state information comprising positions and properties of objects within the 3D environment and information associated with user interactions within the 3D environment;
• recording changes to the application content that are determined based on user interactions that comprise user actions and responses to the user actions, the responses specified by a configuration of the executing application;
• obtaining debugger/system-process communications between the application and a system process that comprises the changes to the application content, wherein the debugger/system-process communications comprise information associated with execution-time changes associated with the executing application in the 3D environment;
• and
• generating a recording of the execution of the application based on the recording of the program state information, the recording of the changes to the application content, and the debugger/system-process communications between the application and the system process;
• and
• after execution of the application, presenting a second set of views comprising a playback of the application content within the 3D environment based on the recording of the program state information, the recording of the changes to the application content, and the debugger/system-process communications between the application and the system process, wherein the second set of views are generated based on the debugger/system-process communications between the application and the system process for the plurality of points in time, and wherein the second set of views are provided from a second set of viewpoints that are different than the first set of viewpoints.

A method comprising:

• at an electronic device having a processor:
• during execution of an application,
• presenting a first set of views comprising application content provided by the application within a three-dimensional (3D) environment, wherein the first set of views are provided from a first set of viewpoints in the 3D environment;
• recording program state information that corresponds to the execution of the application content at a plurality of points in time, the program state information comprising positions and properties of objects within the 3D environment and information associated with user interactions within the 3D environment;
• recording changes to the application content that are determined based on user interactions that comprise user actions and responses to the user actions, the responses specified by a configuration of the executing application;
• obtaining debugger/system-process communications between the application and a system process that comprises the changes to the application content, wherein the debugger/system-process communications comprise information associated with execution-time changes associated with the executing application in the 3D environment;
• and
• generating a recording of the execution of the application based on the recording of the program state information, the recording of the changes to the application content, and the debugger/system-process communications between the application and the system process;
• and
• after execution of the application, presenting a second set of views comprising a playback of the application content within the 3D environment based on the recording of the program state information, the recording of the changes to the application content, and the debugger/system-process communications between the application and the system process, wherein the second set of views are generated based on the debugger/system-process communications between the application and the system process for the plurality of points in time, and wherein the second set of views are provided from a second set of viewpoints that are different than the first set of viewpoints.
