Detection method for passive identification tags

A system comprising:

• a transceiving system configured to:
• transmit a set of interrogation signals over a frequency range to interrogate identification tags, the set of interrogation signals comprising:
• a first interrogation signal within a first frequency subrange in the frequency range and configured to interrogate identification tags at a first incident angle;
• and
• a second interrogation signal within the first frequency subrange and configured to interrogate identification tags at a second incident angle different from the first incident angle;
• receive a first tag response, the first tag response:
• generated by a first identification tag responsive to the first identification tag receiving the first interrogation signal;
• and
• modulated by the first identification tag over the first frequency subrange;
• receive a second tag response, the second tag response:
• generated by the first identification tag responsive to the first identification tag receiving the second interrogation signal;
• and
• modulated by the first identification tag over the first frequency subrange;
• detect a first set of signal components of the first tag response and a second set of signal components of the second tag response;
• and
• derive a first tag identifier of the first identification tag based on the first set of signal components and the second set of signal components.

A system comprising:

• a transceiver configured to:
• broadcast an interrogation signal over a frequency range to interrogate identification tags;
• receive a tag response:
• generated by an identification tag responsive to the identification tag receiving the interrogation signal;
• and
• modulated by first identification tag within the frequency range;
• detect a set of signal components of the tag response;
• and
• derive a tag identifier of the identification tag based on the set of signal components.
