Position sensor with master and nonius tracks

A sensing system for sensing position, including:

• a first magnetic track comprising a first number of multipoles for generating a magnetic field and a first sensor for sensing magnetic field,
• a second magnetic track for generating a magnetic field and a second sensor for sensing magnetic field,
• the first and second magnetic tracks being concentric and solidarily fixed to each other forming a magnetic structure being rotatable about a common rotation axis,
• wherein the first track has a first predetermined width, and the second track has a second predetermined width, the first predetermined width being at least two times larger than the second predetermined width,
• wherein the first magnetic track is separated from the second magnetic track by a non-magnetic gap,
• wherein the first sensor is positioned overlapping the first magnetic track, and the second sensor is positioned between a centerline of the non-magnetic gap and one third of the width of the first magnetic track,
• wherein the second sensor is closer to the second track than the first sensor,
• wherein the first and second sensors are integrated in a single package or a single substrate.
