Abstract
Example computer-implemented methods and systems for estimating geophysical fields for magnetic navigation. One example computer-implemented method includes storing, at a navigation object, an offline baseline estimation model. Online geophysical field model data not stored on the navigation object are received at various times at the navigation object. Control logic is used to select at least one of (1) the offline baseline estimation model and (2) the online geophysical field model data to use to estimate geophysical fields for the navigation object at a variety of specified times.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- storing, at a navigation object, a baseline estimation model;
- at various times receiving, at the navigation object, geophysical field model data not stored on the navigation object;
- and
- using control logic, selecting at least one of (1) the baseline estimation model and (2) the geophysical field model data to use to estimate geophysical fields for the navigation object at a variety of specified times, wherein the selecting comprises reselecting, based on a comparison between a geophysical field model stored at the navigation object and a geophysical measurement from a sensor onboard the navigation object, at least one estimation model from (1) the baseline estimation model or (2) the geophysical field model data to estimate the geophysical fields.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing one or more instructions executable by a computer system to perform operations comprising:
- storing, at a navigation object, a baseline estimation model;
- at various times receiving, at the navigation object, geophysical field model data not stored on the navigation object;
- and
- using control logic, selecting at least one of (1) the baseline estimation model and (2) the geophysical field model data to use to estimate geophysical fields for the navigation object at a variety of specified times, wherein the selecting comprises reselecting, based on a comparison between a geophysical field model stored at the navigation object and a geophysical measurement from a sensor onboard the navigation object, at least one estimation model from (1) the baseline estimation model or (2) the geophysical field model data to estimate the geophysical fields.
A computer-implemented system, comprising:
- one or more computers;
- and
- one or more computer memory devices interoperably coupled with the one or more computers and having tangible, non-transitory, machine-readable media storing one or more instructions that, when executed by the one or more computers, perform one or more operations comprising:
- storing, at a navigation object, a baseline estimation model;
- at various times receiving, at the navigation object, geophysical field model data not stored on the navigation object;
- and
- using control logic, selecting at least one of (1) the baseline estimation model and (2) the geophysical field model data to use to estimate geophysical fields for the navigation object at a variety of specified times, wherein the selecting comprises reselecting, based on a comparison between a geophysical field model stored at the navigation object and a geophysical measurement from a sensor onboard the navigation object, at least one estimation model from (1) the baseline estimation model or (2) the geophysical field model data to estimate the geophysical fields.
