Part-span shrouds for pitch controlled aircrafts

A fan section of a gas turbine engine, the fan section comprising:

• a disk;
• a first pitch controlled airfoil, a first root of the first pitch controlled airfoil rotatably coupled to the disk, the first root in contact with the disk;
• a second pitch controlled airfoil, a second root of the second pitch controlled airfoil rotatably coupled to the disk, the second pitch controlled airfoil circumferentially adjacent to the first pitch controlled airfoil, the second root in contact with the disk;
• and
• a part-span shroud including:
• a first shroud portion extending from the first pitch controlled airfoil;
• a second shroud portion extending from the second pitch controlled airfoil towards the first pitch controlled airfoil;
• and
• an interface formed between the first shroud portion and the second shroud portion, the interface to react to circumferential loads between the first pitch controlled airfoil and the second pitch controlled airfoil, the interface to enable the first pitch controlled airfoil to rotate relative to the second pitch controlled airfoil.

A gas turbine engine comprising:

• an inlet;
• and
• a fan section downstream of the inlet, the fan section including:
• a disk;
• a first pitch controlled airfoil, a first root of the first pitch controlled airfoil rotatably coupled to the disk, the first root in contact with the disk;
• a second pitch controlled airfoil, a second root of the second pitch controlled airfoil rotatably coupled to the disk, the second pitch controlled airfoil circumferentially adjacent to the first pitch controlled airfoil, the second root in contact with the disk;
• and
• a part-span shroud including:
• a first shroud portion extending from the first pitch controlled airfoil;
• a second shroud portion extending from the second pitch controlled airfoil towards the first pitch controlled airfoil;
• and
• an interface formed between the first shroud portion and the second shroud portion, the interface to react to circumferential loads between the first pitch controlled airfoil and the second pitch controlled airfoil, the interface to enable the first pitch controlled airfoil to rotate relative to the second pitch controlled airfoil.
