Article of weather stripping

An article of weather stripping designed for providing obstruction to a flow of air and particulates, comprising:

• a pile of yarn or filaments that is made at least in part from a first polymer, being polypropylene;
• a backing layer that is made from a non-woven polypropylene film;
• said backing layer having two opposing sides and being a non-woven polypropylene fabric that is extrusion coated with a layer of polypropylene (PP) on at least one of said two opposing sides;
• and wherein said non-woven polypropylene film is no more than 15/1000 of an inch in thickness;
• said yarn or filaments being attached to said backing layer via ultrasonic welding of said yarn or filaments to said backing layer, said yarn or filaments being attached to one of said two opposing sides of said backing layer;
• and wherein
• said backing layer including at least one pile attachment section having a width dimension and further including at least two pile non-attachment sections each having a width dimension, two of said pile non-attachment sections being located adjacent to and at opposite sides of said at least one pile attachment section, and wherein
• a summation of said width dimension of each of any two pile non-attachment sections that are adjacent to said at least one pile attachment section, is not greater than said width dimension of said pile attachment section.
