Vehicle door control system

A door control system for a vehicle, comprising:

• a vehicle body;
• side door assemblies including a rear driver door and a rear passenger door, wherein the side door assemblies include side door actuators operably coupled with the rear driver door and the rear passenger door, respectively;
• a liftgate assembly including a liftgate actuator operably coupled to a liftgate;
• a sensor assembly including sensors defining sensor fields extending outward from the vehicle body;
• a sunload sensor configured to sense a level of light proximate to the vehicle body;
• and
• a controller communicatively coupled with the liftgate assembly, the side door assemblies, the sunload sensor, and the sensor assembly, wherein the controller is configured to:
• determine whether a person detected in at least one of the sensor fields is a recognized passenger;
• determine whether the recognized passenger is a child;
• determine whether to open the rear passenger door or the rear driver door when the recognized passenger is the child based on a sensed light level;
• and
• activate one of the side door actuators to open the rear passenger door or the rear driver door when the recognized passenger is the child and based on the sensed light level.
