Electric vehicle battery armor adjustable to offroad driving situations and battery states

A method of selectively deploying a battery armor system, the method comprising:

• using a computing device comprising a processor and a memory, determining, based on data from one or more sensors of a battery armor system, whether one or more conditions are met within an environment of a vehicle,
• wherein the battery armor system comprises:
• one or more sensors configured to detect whether the one or more conditions are met;
• a moveable skid plate, positioned under a vehicle battery, configured to move between a retracted position and a deployed position;
• and
• one or more actuators configured to move the moveable skid plate between the retracted position and the deployed position,
• wherein:
• in the deployed position, an airgap is formed between the moveable skid plate and the vehicle battery, and
• the one or more actuators are configured to move the moveable skid plate into the deployed position upon detection that the one or more conditions are met;
• deploying, using the one or more actuators, the skid plate into the deployed position when the one or more conditions are met;
• and
• when the skid plate is in the deployed position, retracting, using the one or more actuators, the skid plate into the retracted position when the one or more conditions are no longer met.
