Abstract
A computing device, e.g., in a vehicle, can receive a communication trigger for a heads-up display (HUD) in a vehicle to project light external to a vehicle. The device can then identify a projection parameter to visibly project the light external to the vehicle, e.g., beyond a viewing area on a projection screen in or on the vehicle, and can then cause the HUD to project the light from the HUD to be visible external to the vehicle in response to the communication trigger.
Claims21
A system, comprising a computing device that includes a processor and a memory, wherein the memory stores instructions executable by the processor such that the computing device is configured to:
- receive a communication trigger for a heads-up display (HUD) in a vehicle to project light external to a vehicle;
- identify a projection parameter to visibly project the light external to the vehicle;
- and
- project the light from the HUD to be visible external to the vehicle in response to the communication trigger and according to a pattern that encodes a message, wherein the pattern specifies a timing of projecting the light.
A method, comprising:
- receiving a communication trigger for a heads-up display (HUD) in a vehicle to project light external to a vehicle;
- identifying a projection parameter to visibly project the light external to the vehicle;
- and
- projecting the light from the HUD to be visible external to the vehicle in response to the communication trigger and according to a pattern that encodes a message, wherein the pattern specifies a timing of projecting the light.
A system, comprising a computing device that includes a processor and a memory, wherein the memory stores instructions executable by the processor such that the computing device is configured to:
- receive a communication trigger for a heads-up display (HUD) in a vehicle to project light external to a vehicle;
- identify a projection parameter to visibly project the light external to the vehicle, wherein the projection parameter is based on energy usage;
- and
- project the light from the HUD to be visible external to the vehicle in response to the communication trigger.
