Abstract
A lumber assembly and finishing system for use in assembling constructs includes a lumber table configured to support arranged pieces of lumber. A press station presses nailing plates into the pieces of lumber to join the pieces of lumber together to form the lumber construct. A lumber construct transporter moves the arranged pieces of lumber from the lumber table to the press station while keeping the pieces of lumber in their arranged configuration.
Claims9
A method of forming an assembly of pieces of lumber connected together by nailing plates, the method comprising:
- pressing at a press station a first nailing plate into at least two of the pieces of lumber at a first joint so that said at least two of the pieces of lumber are connected together by the nailing plate at the first joint;
- moving said at least two of the pieces of lumber connected together by the first nailing plate at the first joint out of the press station using a lumber handling assembly comprising a gantry positioned above the press station and movable with respect to the press station;
- pressing at the press station a second nailing plate into at least two of the pieces of lumber at a second joint at the press station after the first nailing plate has been pressed into said at least two pieces of lumber at the first joint and moved by the gantry out of the press station.
