Vertically oriented curved liner spring for knife handle

A knife, comprising:

• a blade comprising a tip;
• and
• a handle attached to the blade, wherein the blade is rotatable about a pivot point in the handle between an open position and a closed position, the knife has a longitudinal axis and a vertical axis that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and the handle comprises:
• a slot for a lock stud;
• a liner comprising a cutout region having a top wall;
• and
• a curved elongated spring that extends from the liner in the cutout region, wherein the curved elongated spring extends from at an origination point to a free end, and comprises a shoe at the free end to bias the lock stud in a frontward direction to lock the blade in the open position, the frontward direction is toward the tip when the blade is in the open position, and the shoe has a flat face to bias the lock stud against the top wall when the lock stud moves in a rearward direction, opposite the frontward direction.

A knife, comprising:

• a blade comprising a tip;
• and
• a handle attached to the blade, wherein the blade is rotatable about a pivot point in the handle between an open position and a closed position, and the handle comprises:
• a slot in which a lock stud is to move in a frontward direction and a rearward direction, opposite the frontward direction, wherein the frontward direction is toward the tip when the blade is in the open position;
• a liner;
• and
• a curved elongated spring, wherein the curved elongated spring extends from the liner at an origination point to a free end, and comprises a shoe at the free end to bias the lock stud in the frontward direction and wherein a rearward side of the shoe comprises a protruding stopper.
