Abstract
A method and system is disclosed for acquiring image data of a subject. The image data can be collected with an imaging system having a detector able to move relative to the subject. A contrast agent can be injected into the subject and image data can be acquired with the contrast agent in various phases of the subject. A volumetric model of multiple phases can be reconstructed selected reconstruction techniques.

A system to acquire image data of a subject with an imaging system using enhanced contrast imaging, comprising:
- an imaging system including a gantry within which a source and a detector are operable to move, wherein the source is configured to emit first x-rays having first energy parameters and to emit second x-rays having second energy parameters and the detector is configured to detect the first x-rays and the second x-rays from the source, wherein the first x-rays have a different energy than the second x-rays including a voltage that is about 40 kV to about 60 kV different and an amperage that is about 20 mA to about 150 mA different;
- an imaging system controller configured to control both (i) a timing and (ii) a position of image data acquisition, wherein the position of the image data acquisition is controlled by a position of the imaging system including the detector in a path including movement of the gantry during the image data acquisition, wherein the image data acquisition is at both the first energy parameters and the second energy parameters;
- wherein the image data is at both the first energy parameters and the second energy parameters and the image data is included in a process of reconstruction of a first model of the subject and a second model of the subject;
- a pump controller in communication with the imaging system controller and a pump, wherein the pump is configured to inject a contrast agent into the subject in response to an instruction from the imaging system controller;
- wherein the imaging system is operable to;
- communicate with the pump through the imaging system controller regarding timing of the injection of the contrast agent into the subject;
- determine a number of phases associated with the process of reconstruction based on a speed of movement of the imaging system and a speed of acquisition of image data of the imaging system;
- and
- acquire image data based upon the speed of movement, the speed of acquisition, and the timing of the injection of the contrast agent and source path;
- and
- a three-dimensional model reconstruction system operable to execute instructions to reconstruct one or more models corresponding to the determined number of phases based on an input of the image data, the timing of the injection of the contrast agent, and the determined number of phases to the three-dimensional model reconstruction system.
A system to acquire image data of a subject with an imaging system using enhanced contrast imaging, comprising:
- an imaging system having a source with one or more first energy parameters and one or more second energy parameters, wherein image data is acquired with both the one or more first energy parameters and the one or more second energy parameters;
- a controller in communication with the imaging system and a pump;
- a three-dimensional model reconstruction system operable to,
- receive at least one of parameters or constraints regarding at least one of a venous phase and an arterial phase,
- construct a multi-phase three-dimensional model of a selected portion of the subject to illustrate (i) the venous phase at a first anatomical location and (ii) the arterial phase at a second anatomical location, and
- iteratively changing a pre-formed theoretical image data projection of the subject until the pre-formed theoretical image data projection matches acquired image data of the subject to form an appropriately altered reconstruction model;
- wherein the imaging system is operable to;
- communicate with the pump through the controller regarding timing of an injection of a contrast agent into the subject;
- determine a number of phases associated with the multi-phase three-dimensional model is based on a speed of movement of the imaging system and a speed of acquisition of image data of the imaging system;
- and
- acquire image data based upon the speed of movement, the speed of acquisition, and the timing of the injection of the contrast agent and a path of the source;
- wherein the three-dimensional model reconstruction system is operable to construct one or more models corresponding to the determined number of phases based on an input of the image data, the timing of the injection of the contrast agent, and the determined number of phases to the three-dimensional model reconstruction system.
