Abstract
A method for detecting, diagnosing or screening for concussion in a subject includes a) tracking eye movement of at least one eye of the subject, b) analyzing eye movement of at least one eye of the subject, c) calculating a statistical test for eye movement of at least one eye of the subject as compared to a normal or mean eye movement, and d) detecting, diagnosing or screening for an impairment based on the calculated statistical test.
Claims8
A method for detecting, diagnosing or screening for concussion in a subject comprising:
- a) seating a subject in front of a display;
- b) presenting a video for the subject to watch on the display;
- c) tracking eye movement of a right eye and a left eye of the subject using an eye tracker having a camera to track pupil positions for at least thirty seconds at a frequency of at least 500 Hz;
- d) analyzing eye movement of at least one eye of the subject by calculating one or more individual metrics relating to eye movement selected from the group consisting of:
- right segment X-coordinate variance of the left eye (L varXrit),
- left segment X-coordinate variance of the left eye (L varXlef),
- total variance of the left eye (L varTotal),
- top segment Y-coordinate variance of the right eye (R varYtop),
- right segment X-coordinate variance of the right eye (R varXrit),
- left segment X-coordinate variance of the right eye (R varXlef),
- total variance of the right eye (R varTotal),
- conjugacy in the X-coordinate (Conj varX),
- conjugacy of right segment in the X-coordinate (Conj varXrit),
- conjugacy of bottom segment in the X-coordinate (Conj varXbot),
- conjugacy of left segment in the X-coordinate (Conj varXlef),
- and conjugacy of left segment in the Y-coordinate (Conj varYlef);
- e) calculating a statistical test for the one or more individual metrics as compared to a normal or mean value of the one or more individual metrics;
- and f) detecting, diagnosing or screening for an impairment based on the calculated statistical test.
