Abstract
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, performing a first analysis in respect of a first carrier, the first carrier operative in accordance with a frequency included in a frequency range from 24.25 GHz to 52.60 GHz, inclusive, determining, based on the performing of the first analysis, that a first user equipment (UE) is to be paired with at least one other UE as part of a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) topology in the first carrier, resulting in a first determination, and subjecting the first UE to the MU-MIMO in the first carrier in accordance with the first determination. Other embodiments are disclosed.

A device, comprising:
- a processing system including a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- performing a first analysis in respect of a first carrier, the first carrier operative in accordance with a frequency included in a frequency range from 24.25 GHz to 52.60 GHz, inclusive;
- determining, based on the performing of the first analysis, that a first user equipment (UE) is to be paired with at least one other UE as part of a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) topology in respect of the first carrier, resulting in a first determination;
- subjecting the first UE to the MU-MIMO topology in respect of the first carrier in accordance with the first determination;
- subsequent to the subjecting of the first UE to the MU-MIMO topology in respect of the first carrier in accordance with the first determination, performing a second analysis in respect of the first carrier;
- determining, based on the performing of the second analysis, that the first UE is no longer to be paired with the at least one other UE as part of the MU-MIMO topology in respect of the first carrier, resulting in a second determination;
- and
- subjecting the first UE to a single-user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) topology in respect of the first carrier in accordance with the second determination.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- identifying a first communication device as a candidate for a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) topology in respect of a first carrier, resulting in a first identification, wherein the first carrier supports frequencies within frequency range 2 (FR2);
- identifying a second communication device as a candidate for the MU-MIMO topology in respect of the first carrier, resulting in a second identification;
- and
- pairing the first communication device and the second communication device as part of the MU-MIMO topology in respect of the first carrier based on the first identification and the second identification,
- wherein the first communication device is part of a single-user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) topology in respect of a second carrier that is different from the first carrier.
A method, comprising:
- pairing, by a processing system including a processor, a first user equipment (UE) with at least a second UE and a third UE as part of a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) topology via a utilization of a first carrier;
- and
- associating, by the processing system, the first UE with a first beam, the second UE with a second beam, and the third UE with a third beam, wherein the third beam is different from the second beam, the third beam is different from the first beam, and the second beam is different from the first beam;
- subsequent to the pairing of the first UE as part of the MU-MIMO topology in respect of the first carrier, performing, by the processing system, an analysis in respect of the first carrier;
- determining, by the processing system and based on the performing of the analysis, that the first UE is no longer to be paired with at least one other UE as part of the MU-MIMO topology in respect of the first carrier, resulting in a determination;
- and
- subjecting, by the processing system, the first UE to a single-user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) topology in respect of the first carrier in accordance with the determination.
