Generating a virtual surface corresponding to a planar real-world surface and associating a virtual object with a specific virtual surface that is selected based on conditions in a query

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to:

• detect a plurality of planar surfaces in a real-world scene;
• generate a plurality of virtual surfaces, wherein each of the plurality of virtual surfaces corresponds to a respective one or more of the plurality of planar surfaces;
• receive a query comprising one or more conditions;
• select a specific virtual surface, from the plurality of virtual surfaces, based at least in part on the one or more conditions in the query;
• and
• in response to the selecting, associate a virtual object with the specific virtual surface that is selected.

A computing system comprising:

• one or more sensors;
• one or more processors;
• a display;
• and
• one or more memories storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing system to:
• detect, using the one or more sensors, a plurality of planar surfaces in a real-world scene;
• generate a plurality of virtual surfaces, wherein each of the plurality of virtual surfaces corresponds to a respective one or more of the plurality of planar surfaces;
• receive a query comprising one or more conditions;
• select a specific virtual surface, from the plurality of virtual surfaces, based at least in part on the one or more conditions in the query;
• in response to the selecting, associate a virtual object with the specific virtual surface that is selected;
• and
• display, on the display, at least the virtual object and the specific virtual surface.
