Multi-function rack systems and methods

A multi-function rack system comprising:

• a storage rack including a base;
• a plurality of charging nodes positioned at a predetermined height above the base of the storage rack, wherein the plurality of charging nodes is configured to transmit electric power to a material handling vehicle;
• and
• a plurality of sensors, wherein each sensor of the plurality of sensors is positioned above a corresponding charging node in the plurality of charging nodes.

A method for determining a location of a material handling vehicle, the method comprising:

• receiving a plurality of odometry data from the material handling vehicle;
• determining a location of the material handling vehicle based on the plurality of odometry data;
• receiving, via a first current sensor coupled to one or more power receptors, a first plurality of distance-varying current measurements;
• interpolating the location of the material handling vehicle based on the plurality of distance-varying current measurements;
• and
• outputting the interpolated location of the material handling vehicle.
