Abstract
A cell atlas of the Choroid Plexus is provided and includes novel markers for cell types. Novel cell types and methods of quantitating, detecting and isolating the cell types are disclosed. Methods of treatment, including for oxidative stress in the brain are provided, as well as methods for controlling differentiation, maintenance and/or function of the cell types disclosed herein.
Claims7
A method of reducing brain oxidative stress in a subject in need thereof, comprising:
- delivering, by intraventricular injection, to a choroid plexus (ChP) exhibiting age, drug, or disease induced reduction of anti-oxidant enzyme expression levels and/or activity, a vector encoding superoxide dismutase 3 (SOD3), whereby expression of the SOD3 in the ChP results in reduced oxidative stress in a brain of the subject, wherein the viral vector is an adeno-associated virus (AAV) 2/5 vector.
A method of reducing brain oxidative stress in a subject in need thereof, comprising delivering, by intraventricular injection, to a choroid plexus (ChP) exhibiting age-, drug-, or disease-induced reduction of anti-oxidant enzyme expression levels and/or activity, a viral vector comprising an adeno-associated virus (AAV) 2/5 vector encoding superoxide dismutase 3 (SOD3), wherein expression of the SOD3 in the ChP results a reduction in oxidative stress markers selected from the group consisting of 8-hydroxyguanosine (8-OHdG) and malondialdehyde (MDA).
