Abstract
Provided is an implant configured for implantation in a bone segment, the implant including a first part that includes a hydrogel portion and a porous material portion, and a second part that includes an annular rim and a bottom that at least partially define a cavity configured to receive the porous material portion of the first part, and a barb extending from the bottom of the second part in a direction away from the cavity.
Claims16
An implant configured for implantation in a bone segment, the implant comprising:
- a first part that includes a hydrogel portion and a porous material portion;
- and
- a second part comprising an annular rim and a bottom that at least partially define a cavity configured to receive the porous material portion of the first part, and a barb extending as an acute radially outward protrusion from the bottom of the second part in a direction away from the cavity, wherein the bottom of the second part comprises two or more holes and the barb is coupled to the second part by a wire extending through holes in the bottom of the second part and forming a knot within the cavity of the second part, wherein the wire enables the second part and the anchor to be drawn closer together by pulling on ends of the wire from inside the cavity, so that when the implant is implanted in the bone segment, the barb engages a hole formed in the bone segment to secure the implant.
An implant configured for implantation in a bone segment, the implant comprising:
- a first part that includes a hydrogel portion and a porous material portion;
- and
- a second part comprising an annular rim and a bottom that at least partially define a cavity configured to receive the porous material portion of the first part, and an anchor coupled to the bottom of the second part opposite from the cavity, wherein the bottom of the second part comprises two or more holes and the anchor is coupled to the second part by a wire extending through holes in the bottom of the second part and forming a knot within the cavity of the second part, wherein the wire enables the second part and the anchor to be drawn closer together by pulling on ends of the wire from inside the cavity, so that when the implant is implanted in the bone segment, the anchor engages a hole formed in the bone segment to secure the implant and the anchor comprises an insert and radially outwardly extending fingers, the fingers formed as cutouts from the anchor.
