Abstract
A prosthetic heart valve includes a stent extending in a longitudinal direction, the stent being formed of a plurality of struts forming cells and having a plurality of commissure features, a collapsed condition and an expanded condition. A valve assembly may be secured to the stent, the valve assembly including a cuff and a plurality of leaflets. The cuff may be formed of a fabric and a second material different from the fabric, the cuff having commissure peaks and a plurality of midpeaks disposed between the commissure peaks. Each of the leaflets may have a free edge.
Claims9
A prosthetic heart valve, comprising:
- a stent extending in a longitudinal direction and having a collapsed condition and an expanded condition, an abluminal surface and a luminal surface, the stent further including a plurality of struts forming cells and a plurality of commissure features spaced apart in an annular direction of the stent;
- and
- a valve assembly secured to the stent, the valve assembly including:
- a fabric cuff, a majority of the fabric cuff being disposed on a luminal surface of the stent, the fabric cuff having first peaks with a first height disposed adjacent the commissure features, and a plurality of midpeaks with a second height less than the first height disposed between an adjacent pair of the commissure features, each of the midpeaks covering a selected cell having a first strut and a second strut forming an upper apex, the first peaks being disposed solely on the luminal surface and each of the midpeaks passing through the selected cell below the upper apex from the luminal surface to an abluminal surface of the stent without wrapping around the first strut and the second strut, each of the midpeaks having a main body attached to the majority of the fabric cuff on the luminal surface of the stent and passing to the abluminal surface of the stent, a cut edge, and a fold disposed between the main body and the cut edge so that the cut edge and the main body are in contact with one another, the cut edge and the fold being disposed on the abluminal surface of the stent away from the valve assembly;
- and
- a plurality of leaflets, each of the plurality of leaflets having a free edge and being arranged to open such that the free edge is adjacent the portion of the cuff disposed on the abluminal surface of the stent.
