Abstract
If a plurality of types of papers correspond to a feature value detected by a media sensor, an image forming apparatus automatically selects, on the basis whether a type of paper is defined by a user, one from among the plurality of types of papers.
Claims6
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- a detection unit configured to detect a feature value of a sheet being conveyed;
- and
- a selection unit configured to select a sheet type corresponding to the feature value detected by the detection unit,
- wherein in a case where a plurality of sheet types correspond to the feature value detected by the detection unit, the plurality of sheet types including a first sheet type having an attribution indicating a default sheet type and a second sheet type having an attribution indicating a sheet type registered by a user, the selection unit automatically selects, based on an attribution of a sheet type included in the plurality of sheet types, the first sheet type from the plurality of sheet types;
- and
- a printing unit configured to print on the conveyed sheet using a print control parameter corresponding to the first sheet type selected by the selection unit.

A method for controlling an image forming apparatus, comprising:
- detecting a feature value of a sheet being conveyed;
- selecting a sheet type corresponding to the detected feature value,
- wherein in a case where a plurality of sheet types correspond to the detected feature value, the plurality of sheet types including a first sheet type having an attribution indicating a default sheet type and a second sheet type having an attribution indicating a sheet type registered by a user, the first sheet type is automatically selected, based on an attribution of a sheet type included in the plurality of sheet types, from the plurality of sheet types;
- and
- printing on the conveyed sheet using a print control parameter corresponding to the selected first sheet type.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing a program causing an image forming apparatus to perform a method, the method comprising:
- detecting a feature value of a sheet being conveyed;
- selecting a sheet type corresponding to the detected feature value,
- wherein in a case where a plurality of sheet types correspond to the detected feature value, the plurality of sheet types including a first sheet type having an attribution indicating a default sheet type and a second sheet type having an attribution indicating a sheet type registered by a user, the first sheet type is automatically selected, based on an attribution of a sheet type included in the plurality of sheet types, from the plurality of sheet types;
- and
- printing on the conveyed sheet using a print control parameter corresponding to the selected first sheet type.
