Abstract
A server device that is configured to provide service to client devices in a second geographic zone determines that a client device is transitioning from a first geographic zone to the second geographic zone. The server device receives a client device manifest that identifies a configuration of the client device. Based on the client device manifest, the server device determines that the configuration of the client device does not match a policy of the second geographic zone. The server device sends to the client device instructions that, if performed by the client device, will cause the configuration of the client device to match the policy of the second geographic zone.
Claims12
A method, comprising:
- sending, by a mobile client device being serviced in a first geographic zone to a server device in a second geographic zone toward which the mobile client device is travelling, a client device manifest that identifies a configuration of the mobile client device;
- and
- receiving, by the mobile client device, instructions that, if performed by the mobile client device, will cause the mobile client device to match a policy of the second geographic zone and thereby obtain service in the second geographic zone;
- wherein the policy of the second geographic zone specifies that a component installed on the mobile client device and identified in the client device manifest is to be removed prior to obtaining service in the second geographic zone.
A client device, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor device coupled to the memory, the processor device to:
- send, while the client device is being serviced in a first geographic zone to a server device in a second geographic zone toward which the client device is travelling, a client device manifest that identifies a configuration of the client device;
- and
- receive instructions that, if performed by the client device, will cause the client device to match a policy of the second geographic zone and thereby obtain service in the second geographic zone;
- wherein the policy of the second geographic zone specifies that a component installed on the client device and identified in the client device manifest is to be removed prior to obtaining service in the second geographic zone.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that includes computer-executable instructions that, when executed, cause one or more processor devices of a client device to:
- send, while the client device is being serviced in a first geographic zone to a server device in a second geographic zone toward which the client device is travelling, a client device manifest that identifies a configuration of the client device;
- and
- receive instructions that, if performed by the client device, will cause the client device to match a policy of the second geographic zone and thereby obtain service in the second geographic zone;
- wherein the policy of the second geographic zone specifies that a component installed on the client device and identified in the client device manifest is to be removed prior to obtaining service in the second geographic zone.
