Abstract
A battery module including a battery cell stack in which a plurality of battery cells are stacked in a first direction, and a body located on one side of the battery cell stack, wherein the body includes a cavity configured to receive an extinguishing material, the cavity having an inlet and an outlet, and at least one rupture part for one of the inlet and outlet.
Claims15
A battery module comprising:
- a housing including a pair of side plates, a bottom wall and a body, the bottom wall and the body extending between the pair of side plates to form an interior space;
- and
- a battery cell stack in which a plurality of battery cells are stacked in a first direction in the interior space,
- wherein the body is located on top of the battery cell stack, a lower surface of the body forming an inner surface of the interior space and an upper surface of the body forming an upper exterior surface of the housing,
- wherein the body includes a cavity configured to receive an extinguishing material, the cavity having an inlet and an outlet, and a first rupture part in the inlet and a second rupture part in the outlet,
- wherein rupture of the first rupture part provides direct fluid communication between the interior space having the battery cell stack and the cavity, and
- wherein rupture of the second rupture part provides direct fluid communication between the interior space having the battery cell stack and the cavity.
