Power management based on frame slicing

A method comprising:

• storing first data corresponding to computing activity of a computing device during a time slice of a plurality of time slices while processing a first frame;
• storing second data corresponding to computing activity of the computing device during a time slice of a plurality of time slices while processing a second frame;
• prior to processing a corresponding time slice of a third frame, causing clock generation circuitry to generate a clock signal with a predicted clock frequency based at least in part on a correlation between the first data and the second data;
• and
• processing the corresponding time slice of the third frame using the predicted clock frequency.

A computing system comprising:

• a computing device comprising circuitry configured to process frames;
• clock generation circuitry;
• and
• system management circuitry configured to:
• store first data representing computing activity of the computing device for each of a plurality of time slices of a first frame processed by the computing device;
• store second data representing computing activity of the computing device for each of a plurality of time slices of a second frame processed by the computing device;
• generate, based at least in part on a relationship between the first data and the second data, a predicted clock-frequency for use in processing a third frame by the computing device;
• and
• cause the clock generation circuitry to supply a clock signal at the predicted clock-frequency to the computing device while the computing device renders the third frame.
