Image processing apparatus, endoscopic apparatus, image processing method, and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium

An image processing apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory having stored thereon instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the image processing apparatus at least to:
• generate a plurality of tone correction signals by converting tone characteristics of a plurality of image signals in different wavelength bands;
• generate an edge enhancement signal by performing predetermined processing with respect to at least one image signal of the plurality of image signals;
• and
• combine (a) a signal based on the plurality of tone correction signals and (b) the edge enhancement signal,
• wherein tone correction processing includes generating at least two tone correction signals by applying a common gain value to at least two image signals of the plurality of image signals while maintaining ratios between the at least two image signals,
• wherein the common gain value changes in response to at least one image signal of the at least two image signals, and
• wherein the tone correction processing and edge enhancement processing are configured to be performed independently.
