Ultrasound imaging with anatomy-based acoustic settings

A method of ultrasound imaging, comprising:

• controlling, by a processor circuit, an array of acoustic elements in communication with the processor circuit to transmit first ultrasound energy at a first frequency and receive echoes associated with the first ultrasound energy;
• automatically identifying, by the processor circuit, an acoustic window based on the echoes associated with the first ultrasound energy, and wherein the acoustic window is associated with one of a subcostal location of the array and an intercostal location of the array;
• determining, by the processor circuit, a second frequency based on the automatically identified acoustic window;
• controlling, by the processor circuit, the array of acoustic elements to transmit second ultrasound energy at the second frequency and receive echoes associated with the second ultrasound energy;
• generating, by the processor circuit, an image based on the echoes associated with the second ultrasound energy;
• and
• outputting, by the processor circuit, the image to a display in communication with the processor circuit.
