Abstract
A distributed zone control system having one or more vents with sensors and effectors is provided. The effectors operate in response to the sensors. In various embodiments, the effectors of one vent may operate in response to the sensors of another vent. In various instances, the distributed zone control system connects to an HVAC system and controls operation of the HVAC system. In this manner, temperatures may be detected by a vent and conditioned air from the HVAC system directed to appropriate zones to maintain desired conditions.
Claims13
A distributed zone control system for optimizing zone conditions, comprising:
- a plurality of vents, wherein each vent further comprises a sensor on the vent and an effector on the vent and a controller on the vent, wherein each vent of the plurality of vents is connected to a vent communication channel comprising wiring inside an HVAC duct;
- and
- the controller configured to receive data from the sensor on the vent and instruct an actuation of the effector in response to the data and further instruct an actuation of the effectors on every vent of the plurality of vents in response to the data received by the controller from the sensor on the vent, and
- wherein the effector comprises a fan providing an airflow gate to regulate a volume of conditioned air conducted from an HVAC duct by the vent.
