Abstract
A diaphragm pump assembly can include a pump drive chamber, a first pump diaphragm chamber, and a second pump diaphragm chamber. The assembly can include a pump motor configured to rotate a motor shaft extending into the pump drive chamber. The assembly can include a cam connected to the motor shaft and configured to rotate in response to rotation of the motor shaft. The assembly can include a drive yoke having a yoke frame and a yoke pocket having a first wall and a second wall parallel and opposite the first wall. First and second pistons can connect to the drive yoke and to first and second diaphragms, respectively. The diameter of the cam can be less than and within 5% the width of yoke pocket and the yoke can be configured to move the pistons along a straight line.
Claims8
A diaphragm pump assembly comprising:
- a valve manifold having:
- a manifold inlet;
- a manifold outlet;
- a pump drive chamber;
- a first pump diaphragm chamber positioned in a first fluid path between the manifold inlet and the manifold outlet;
- and
- a second pump diaphragm chamber positioned in a second fluid path between the manifold inlet and the manifold outlet;
- a pump motor having a motor shaft, the pump motor configured to rotate the motor shaft, the motor shaft extending into the pump drive chamber;
- a cam having a cam diameter and connected to the motor shaft, the cam configured to rotate in response to rotation of the motor shaft;
- a drive yoke having:
- a drive yoke frame;
- and
- a drive yoke pocket surrounded by the drive yoke frame, the drive yoke pocket having a height, a first wall extending along at least a portion of the height of the drive yoke pocket, a second wall opposite and facing the first wall, a third wall connecting the first wall and the second wall, and a fourth wall connecting the first wall and the second wall;
- a first piston connected to the drive yoke and extending into the first pump diaphragm chamber;
- a second piston connected to the drive yoke and extending into the second pump diaphragm chamber;
- a first diaphragm connected to the first piston and positioned within the first pump diaphragm chamber;
- and a second diaphragm connected to the second piston and positioned within the second pump diaphragm chamber;
- wherein:
- the drive yoke pocket has a first maximum width between the first wall and the second wall measured parallel to a direction of movement of the first piston and passing through an axis of rotation of the motor shaft to the first and second walls and the drive yoke pocket has a second maximum width measured perpendicular to the first maximum width between the third wall and the fourth wall;
- the diameter of the cam is less than the first maximum width of the drive yoke pocket and is within 5% of the first maximum width of the drive yoke pocket;
- the diameter of the cam is less than the second maximum width of the drive yoke pocket and is within 10% of the second maximum width of the drive yoke pocket;
- and
- the drive yoke is configured to move the first and second pistons in unison along a straight line.
