Described herein are compounds and methods of treating a disease or disorder, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, ischemic stroke, and prion disease, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a cromolyn ester.

A method of imaging a disease or condition comprising administering a compound having the following structure
- wherein the disease or condition is Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, stroke, ischemic stroke, prion disease, a head injury, a traumatic brain injury, dementia, an infection, atherosclerosis, or asthma.
A method of treating a disease or condition in a subject in need thereof comprising administering a compound selected from
