Abstract
A patient transfer device (10) and a method of controlling the patient transfer device is provided. The patient transfer device (10) comprises a chassis (100) having a plurality of wheels (110) and a vertically extending support structure (200). The patient transfer device (10) further comprises one motorized wheel (210).
Claims16
A patient transfer device, comprising:
- a chassis including a base arranged in a horizontal plane, and a first front wheel and a second front wheel;
- a support structure connected to the chassis;
- and
- a transmission assembly including a transmission motor, a supporting wheel, and a biasing element,
- wherein the support structure extends from the chassis in a vertical direction,
- wherein the transmission assembly is mounted to the chassis and the supporting wheel is configured to pivot horizontally relative to the chassis,
- wherein the transmission assembly is configured to reversibly move the supporting wheel vertically between an idle position, in which the supporting wheel is elevated away from the ground, and an operational position, in which the supporting wheel contacts the ground with a contact force, and
- wherein, in the operational position, the biasing element is configured to apply a biasing force to the supporting wheel to increase the contact force between the supporting wheel and the ground.
