Abstract
An article of footwear is provided that includes a sole structure and an upper attached to the sole structure. The upper includes an exterior layer and a base layer, and the exterior layer includes a biodegradable layer and a biologically active agent capable of biodegrading the biodegradable layer. The article of footwear has a first state in which the biodegradable layer is not biodegraded.
Claims16
An article of footwear comprising:
- a sole structure;
- and
- an upper attached to the sole structure, the upper including an exterior layer and a base layer;
- wherein the exterior layer includes a biologically active agent and a biodegradable layer,
- wherein the biologically active agent is a fungus that is capable of biodegrading the biodegradable layer;
- wherein the article of footwear has a first state in which the biodegradable layer is not biodegraded and the base layer is concealed, and
- wherein the article of footwear has a second state in which the biodegradable layer is biodegraded and exposes the base layer.
4 more elements
An article of footwear comprising:
- a sole structure;
- and
- an upper attached to the sole structure, the upper including a biodegradable layer and a fungus capable of biodegrading the biodegradable layer,
- wherein the upper includes a top layer, a base layer, and an intermediate layer positioned between the top layer and the base layer,
- wherein the top layer includes the biodegradable layer, the intermediate layer includes the fungus, and the base layer includes a non-biodegradable substrate, and
- wherein the article of footwear has a first state in which the base layer is obstructed by the top layer and a second state in which the top layer is at least partially biodegraded and reveals portions of the base layer.
3 more elements
An article of footwear, comprising:
- a sole structure;
- and
- an upper attached to the sole structure, and the upper including
- (1) a support structure comprising a non-biodegradable material and having a plurality of cavities,
- (2) a biodegradable material positioned on top of the support structure, and
- (3) a fungus disposed within the plurality of cavities, wherein the fungus is configured to degrade the biodegradable material.
