System and method for using a biometric payment device

A payment device, comprising:

• a substrate that includes an antenna, a biometric sensor, a processor, and a memory, the memory comprising a biometric identifier associated with a transaction account;
• the memory having instructions, when executed, cause the processor to at least:
• authenticate the biometric identifier of a user sent via the biometric sensor of the payment device matches the biometric identifier to another biometric identifier stored in the payment device;
• transmit the transaction account to a point of sale (POS) device, via the antenna of the payment device that uses a near field communication (NFC) signal;
• and
• process a payment transaction based at least in part on the authentication and the transmission;
• wherein the biometric identifier is stored as encrypted biometric data.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by a processor, cause the processor to perform:

• authenticating, by a payment device, a biometric identifier of a user sent via a biometric sensor of the payment device by matching the biometric identifier to another biometric identifier stored in the payment device;
• transmitting, by the payment device, a transaction account to a point of sale (POS) device, via an antenna of the payment device using a near field communication (NFC) signal;
• and
• processing, by the payment device, a payment transaction based at least in part on the authenticating and the transmitting;
• wherein the biometric identifier is stored as encrypted biometric data.
