Managing risk content of an electronic file

A computing device, comprising:

• at least one memory to store instructions;
• and
• at least one processor configured to execute the instructions to perform operations, the operations including:
• receiving electronic files;
• receiving a selection of at least one of a depth of risk content removal or a confidence level associated with the risk content removal in which the electronic files satisfy a threshold confidence value, wherein the confidence level associated with the risk content removal in which each electronic file satisfies the threshold confidence value is selected from a plurality of confidence levels corresponding to respective threshold confidence values and the threshold confidence values include at least a first threshold confidence value, a second threshold confidence value which is greater than the first threshold confidence value, and a third threshold confidence value which is greater than the second threshold confidence value and further wherein each of the threshold confidence values are determined values obtained from retrospective analysis of a plurality of different electronic files;
• and
• applying one or more policies based on the selection to process the electronic files by selectively implementing an iterative routine, the iterative routine including:
• removing risk content from the electronic files according to a first policy by implementing a first content and disarm (CDR) tool policy to obtain first processed electronic files;
• performing a first inspection of the processed electronic files;
• in response to the first inspection for the electronic files that do not satisfy one or more predetermined conditions, removing additional risk content from the processed electronic files according to a second policy by implementing a second CDR tool policy to obtain second processed electronic files and
• in response to the first inspection, passing the electronic files when corresponding processed electronic files satisfy the one or more predetermined conditions.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations, the operations including:

• receiving electronic files;
• receiving a selection of at least one of a depth of risk content removal or a confidence level associated with the risk content removal in which the electronic files satisfy a threshold confidence value, wherein the confidence level associated with the risk content removal in which each electronic file satisfies the threshold confidence value is selected from a plurality of confidence levels corresponding to respective threshold confidence values and the threshold confidence values include at least a first threshold confidence value, a second threshold confidence value which is greater than the first threshold confidence value, and a third threshold confidence value which is greater than the second threshold confidence value and further wherein each of the threshold confidence values are determined values obtained from retrospective analysis of a plurality of different electronic files;
• and
• applying one or more policies based on the selection to process the electronic files by selectively implementing an iterative routine, the iterative routine including:
• removing risk content from the electronic file according to a first policy by implementing a first content and disarm (CDR) tool policy to obtain first processed electronic files;
• performing a first inspection of the processed electronic files;
• in response to a first inspection for the processed electronic files that do not satisfy one or more predetermined conditions, removing additional risk content from the electronic files according to a second policy by implementing a second CDR tool policy to obtain second processed electronic files;
• and
• in response to the first inspection, passing the electronic files that correspond to processed electronic files that satisfy the one or more predetermined conditions.
