Abstract
A working machine includes a body, a ground engaging propulsion structure supporting the body, a working arm, a control system, and a collision avoidance system. The collision avoidance system has a camera configured to monitor an area in its field of view and to generate an output signal to the control system in response to a detected animate object. The control system includes a processor configured to execute a machine learning algorithm trained to determine whether the detected object is an animate object to determine whether an animate object is within the field of view. The system provides an output to alert an operator of the working machine if it is determined that an animate object has been detected in the field of view of the at least one camera.
Claims18
A working machine comprising:
- a body including an operator cab from which an operator can operate the working machine;
- a ground engaging propulsion structure supporting the body;
- a working arm mounted to the body;
- a control system;
- a collision avoidance system comprising a plurality of cameras mounted on the body of the working machine, each camera configured to monitor an area in a field of view of the camera and to generate a camera output signal to the control system in response to a detected object in said field of view;
- and
- a display configured to display camera output signals from the plurality of cameras, wherein the control system is configured to divide the camera output signals into a plurality of zones independently of mounted positions of the cameras, to assign the camera output signals to the plurality of zones, and to display at least one zone on the display,
- wherein the control system comprises a processor configured to execute a machine learning algorithm trained to determine whether the detected object is an animate object to determine whether the animate object is within the field of view of at least one camera from the camera output signal, and wherein the control system is configured to provide an output for alerting said operator in the operator cab if it is determined that the animate object has been detected in the field of view of the at least one camera, and
- wherein the working machine comprises an operator input positioned within the operator cab, wherein the control system comprises a memory, and wherein, in use, the operator of the working machine can input an indication of failure to detect the animate object and/or an incorrect determination of the detected animate object via the operator input positioned within the operator cab so as to be stored on the memory of the control system of the working machine for use in improving training of the machine learning algorithm, and
- wherein the body comprises an undercarriage and a superstructure rotatably mounted on the undercarriage, wherein the plurality of cameras are mounted on the rotatable superstructure or the undercarriage, and wherein the control system is configured to select, via the operator input, whether displayed zones remain fixed relative to the undercarriage or remain fixed relative to the superstructure.
A working machine comprising:
- a body comprising an undercarriage and a superstructure rotatably mounted on the undercarriage;
- a ground engaging propulsion structure supporting the body;
- a working arm mounted to the body;
- a display;
- a control system;
- and
- a collision avoidance system comprising a plurality of cameras mounted on the superstructure or the undercarriage of the body of the working machine and configured to monitor an area in a field of view of a camera and to generate a camera output signal to the control system,
- wherein the control system comprises a processor configured to define a plurality of zones, to assign camera output signals of the plurality of cameras to the plurality of zones, and to display one or more of the plurality of zones on the display,
- wherein the control system is configured to provide an output for alerting an operator if it is determined that an animate object has been detected in at least one zone,
- wherein the plurality of zones are defined independently of mounted positions of the plurality of cameras, and
- wherein the control system is configured such that the plurality of zones can be fixed relative to the undercarriage and such that the plurality of zones can be fixed relative to the superstructure, and wherein the control system is configured to enable the operator to select, via an operator input, whether the displayed zones remain fixed relative to the undercarriage or remain fixed relative to the superstructure.
