Abstract
Methods include pumping a fracturing pad fluid into a subterranean formation under conditions of sufficient rate and pressure to create at least one fracture in the subterranean formation, the fracturing pad fluid including a carrier fluid and a plurality of bridging particles, the bridging particles forming a bridge in a fracture tip of a far field region of the formation. Methods further include forming a first plurality of fibers in situ into the subterranean formation to form a low permeability plug with the bridging particles, and pumping a proppant fluid comprising a plurality of proppant particles.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- pumping a fracturing pad fluid into a wellbore traversing a subterranean formation, wherein a plurality of bridging particles in the fracturing pad fluid form a bridge at a fracture tip within a far field region of the subterranean formation;
- pumping a treatment fluid into the wellbore after pumping the fracturing pad fluid into the wellbore, wherein the treatment fluid comprises one or more polymers;
- and
- adjusting at least one parameter of the treatment fluid, thereby causing the one or more polymers to form a first plurality of fibers in situ, wherein the first plurality of fibers deposit on the bridge to form a plug with the plurality of bridging particles.
A method, comprising:
- pumping a treatment fluid into a wellbore traversing a subterranean formation to mix with a fracturing pad fluid in the wellbore, the treatment fluid comprising a plurality of bridging particles and one or more polymers, wherein the plurality of bridging particles form a bridge at a fracture tip within a far field region of the subterranean formation, and at least some of the one or more polymers are surrounded by an encapsulation to delay a release of the one or more polymers;
- and
- adjusting at least one parameter of the treatment fluid being mixed with the fracturing pad fluid, thereby causing the one or more polymers to release from the encapsulation and form a first plurality of fibers in situ, wherein the first plurality of fibers form a plug with the plurality of bridging particles.
