Abstract
The invention provides an isolated material, or a phenolate form of at least one phenol-containing active material, wherein the isolated material comprises one or more phenolate species and a counter ion (a cation) in the form of a metal salt, a phosphonium or an ammonium.

An isolated material comprising at least one phenol-containing active material comprising at least one phenolate group and a phosphonium or an ammonium salt counter-ion, wherein the active material is not phenol (C6H6O), methylphenol, bromophenol, dibromophenol, tribromophenol, pentachlorophenol, bisphenol A, tetrabromobisphenol A, resorcinol, hydroquinone, hydroquinone or naphthol.
An isolated material comprising at least one phenol-containing active material comprising at least one phenolate group and a metal salt, a phosphonium or an ammonium salt counter-ion, wherein the phenol-containing active material is selected from cannabinoids, fenoldopam, tyrosine, xylenol, thymol, propofol, apomorphine, morphine and derivatives thereof, mitoxantrone, dexorubicine, hexachlorophene, acetaminophen, p-coumaric acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, butylparaben, vanillic acid, guaiacol, caffeic acid, tolterodine, raloxifea, scopoletin, decursinol, dopamine, L-DOPA, curcumin, tianine and polyphenols.
