Substituted salicylamide compounds and use thereof

A compound of formula (I):

• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, prodrug, or metabolite thereof, or a solvate or hydrate of any of the foregoing,
• wherein,
• X is halogen;
• R1 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkyl, optionally substituted (C2-C8) alkenyl, optionally substituted (C2-C8) alkynyl, optionally substituted (C1-C8) haloalkyl, optionally substituted (C3-C10) carbocycle, optionally substituted (C2-C9) heterocycle, optionally substituted (C6-C10) aryl, and optionally substituted (C1-C9) heteroaryl;
• each of R2, R3, R4 and R5 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkyl, optionally substituted (C2-C8) alkenyl, optionally substituted (C2-C8) alkynyl, optionally substituted (C1-C8) haloalkyl, optionally substituted (C3-C10) carbocycle, optionally substituted (C2-C9) heterocycle, optionally substituted (C6-C10) aryl, optionally substituted (C1-C9) heteroaryl, optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkoxy and optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkylamino,
• or R2 and R3 combined with the atoms to which they are attached form an optionally substituted ring A1, said ring A1 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted (C3-C10) carbocycle, optionally substituted (C2-C9) heterocycle, optionally substituted (C6-C10) aryl, and optionally substituted (C1-C9) heteroaryl, said ring Al is unsubstituted or independently substituted with one or more R9a;
• or R3 and R4 combined with the atoms to which they are attached form an optionally substituted ring A2, said ring A2 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted (C3-C10) carbocycle, optionally substituted (C2-C9) heterocycle, optionally substituted (C6-C10) aryl, and optionally substituted (C1-C9) heteroaryl, said ring A2 is unsubstituted or independently substituted with one or more R9b;
• or R4 and R5 combined with the atoms to which they are attached form an optionally substituted ring A3, said ring A3 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted (C3-C10) carbocycle, optionally substituted (C2-C9) heterocycle, optionally substituted (C6-C10) aryl, and optionally substituted (C1-C9) heteroaryl, said ring A3 is unsubstituted or independently substituted with one or more R9c;
• each of R6 and R7 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkyl, optionally substituted (C2-C8) alkenyl, optionally substituted (C2-C8) alkynyl, optionally substituted (C1-C8) haloalkyl, optionally substituted (C3-C10) carbocycle, optionally substituted (C2-C9) heterocycle, optionally substituted (C6-C10) aryl, optionally substituted (C1-C9) heteroaryl, optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkoxy and optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkylamino,
• each of R9a, R9b and R9c is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkyl, optionally substituted (C2-C8) alkenyl, optionally substituted (C2-C8) alkynyl, optionally substituted (C1-C8) haloalkyl, optionally substituted (C3-C10) carbocycle, optionally substituted (C2-C9) heterocycle, optionally substituted (C6-C10) aryl, optionally substituted (C1-C9) heteroaryl, optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkoxy and optionally substituted (C1-C8) alkylamino.
