Golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads

A golf club head comprising:

• a body portion having a volume of less than or equal to 100 cubic centimeters, the body portion comprising an opening;
• a face portion coupled to the body portion to close the opening, the face portion comprising a front surface having one or more grooves and a back surface;
• a mass portion coupled to the body portion at or below a horizontal midplane of the body portion, the mass portion comprising a material having a greater density than a density of a material of the body portion;
• a face support portion coupled to the back surface of the face portion, the face support portion comprising a different material than a material of the face portion, a length in a heel-to-toe direction, a width in a top-to-sole direction, a thickness in a front-to-back direction, and a rib portion projecting at a rib portion height into the body portion from a back surface of the face support portion and extending from a location at or proximate to a first side of the face support portion to a center portion of the face support portion and from the center portion to a location at or proximate to a second side of the face support portion;
• and
• a filler material in the body portion between the face support portion and the mass portion;
• wherein the filler material comprises a first elasticity and the face support portion comprises a second elasticity less than the first elasticity;
• wherein the length of the face support portion is greater than the width of the face support portion,
• wherein the thickness of the face support portion is different from a thickness of the face portion
• wherein the rib portion height increases from the first side of the face support portion to the center portion of the face support portion, and
• wherein the rib portion height increases from the second side of the face support portion to the center portion of the face support portion.

A golf club comprising:

• a shaft having a first end portion and a second end portion;
• a grip coupled to the first end portion;
• and
• an iron-type golf club head coupled to the second end portion, the iron-type golf club head comprising:
• a body portion comprising a first material having a first density, a cavity, a toe portion with a toe portion edge, a heel portion with a heel portion edge, a front portion with an opening, a back portion with a back wall portion, a top portion with a top portion edge, a sole portion with a sole portion edge, and a port connected to the cavity, a distance between a portion of the port and the heel portion edge being greater than a distance between the portion of the port and the toe portion edge;
• a face portion coupled to the body portion to close the cavity at the opening, the face portion comprising a front surface and a back surface opposite the front surface, the back surface having a face support portion made of a material having a different stiffness than a material of the face portion, the face support portion comprising:
• a base plate portion;
• and
• a rib portion having a first end portion, a second end portion, a center portion between the first end portion and the second end portion, and a rib portion height projecting into the cavity of the body portion from the base plate portion, the rib portion height increasing from the first end portion to the center portion, and the rib portion height decreasing from the center portion to the second end portion;
• a mass portion coupled to the body portion, the mass portion comprising a material having a second density greater than the first density, a distance between the mass portion and the heel portion edge being less than a distance between the port and the heel portion edge;
• and
• a filler material in the cavity between the face support portion and the back wall portion.
