Targeting for vacuum-based engagement tools

A system comprising:

• an engagement tool having a suction device;
• a movement system configured to move the engagement tool;
• an imaging system configured to capture an image of a surface of a meat product;
• and
• a computing device communicatively coupled to the movement system and the imaging system, wherein the computing device is configured to:
• determine, from the image of the surface of the meat product, a target region on the surface of the meat product based on an estimated fat content in the meat product at the target region on the surface of the meat product, cause the movement system to move the engagement tool with respect to the meat product such that the suction device engages the target region on the surface of the meat product,
• initiate a vacuum within the suction device such that the engagement tool exerts a force on the target region of the surface of the meat product at the suction device, and
• cause the movement system to move the meat product while the engagement tool exerts a force on the target region of the surface of the meat product at the suction device;
• wherein the meat product includes a piece of raw meat in a package, wherein the package is at least partially transparent, and wherein the surface of the meat product includes a surface of the package.
