Abstract
A system for detecting foreign materials comprising an alternative light source (ALS), one or more filters operationally associated with the ALS, one or more camera lenses operationally associated with the ALS and the filters, one or more processors, a computer readable memory, and a computer readable storage medium operatively associated with a computing device operatively associated with the ALS, one or more sensors operationally associated with the computing device and the ALS, wherein the sensors detect the presence of the filter and a camera operationally associated with the lens and the computing device.
Claims12
A system for detecting foreign materials comprising:
- a mobile cart which contains the system;
- a positioning arm attached to the mobile cart;
- an alternative light source (ALS) secured to the positioning arm;
- one or more filters operationally associated with the ALS;
- one or more cameras operationally associated with the ALS and the one or more filters;
- a camera lens operationally associated with the one or more cameras, the ALS and the one or more filters;
- one or more processors, a computer readable memory, and a computer readable storage medium operatively associated with a computing device operatively associated with the ALS and the one or more cameras;
- and
- one or more sensors operationally associated with the computing device, the ALS, and the one or more cameras, wherein the one or more sensors detect the presence of the one or more filters which initiates programming instructions stored in the computer readable memory and/or the computer readable storage medium, the programming instructions selecting, based on the one or more filters detected, one or more wavelengths of light generated by the ALS.
A method for detecting foreign materials comprising the steps of:
- providing a system for detecting foreign materials comprising:
- a mobile cart which contains the system;
- a positioning arm attached to the mobile cart;
- an alternative light source (ALS), the ALS secured to the positioning arm;
- one or more filters operationally associated with the ALS;
- a camera lens operationally associated with the ALS and the one or more filters, and one or more cameras;
- one or more processors, a computer readable memory, and a computer readable storage medium operatively associated with a computing device operatively associated with the ALS and the one or more cameras;
- and
- one or more sensors operationally associated with the computing device, the ALS, and the one or more cameras, wherein the one or more sensors detect the presence of the one or more filters;
- initiating programming instructions to select, based on readings from the one or more sensors, one or more wavelengths of light to emit from the ALS;
- placing the one or more filters on or near the camera lens allowing the one or more sensors to detect the presence of the one or more filters;
- activating the ALS;
- initiating the programming instructions to change the one or more wavelengths of light generated by the ALS based on the one or more filters detected;
- directing the one or more wavelengths of light from the ALS onto a subject or object being examined;
- locating the foreign materials on the subject or object being examined;
- and
- capturing one or more images of the foreign materials with the one or more cameras.
